Ohio Public School Mapping | Teachers

The next blog on the multipart education blog series focuses on teachers. Four fields we looked at included their salary, their years of experience, percent with bachelors, and percent with masters. The map below shows the percent of teachers with a bachelor’s degree. 515 school districts in Ohio have 100% of teachers with a bachelor’s and all school districts have over 90% of teachers with a bachelor’s of some form. The average of all school districts with teachers holding a bachelor’s degree is 99.6%. The lowest percentage of teachers holding a bachelor’s is in the Port Clinton City School District in Ottawa County with 93.3%.

The next map shows the percent of teachers with a master’s degree.  Since holding a master’s degree is not required, the percent of teachers holding a master’s is much lower than the percent of teachers holding a bachelor’s.  The average of all school districts with teachers holding a master’s degree is 62.8%.  School districts in the rural and Southeastern portions of Ohio tend to have fewer teachers holding a master’s while school districts in the Upper Miami Valley, urban, and suburban portions of Ohio tend to have more teachers holding a master’s.  The highest percentage of teachers holding a master’s is in the Ottoville Local School District in Putnam County with 93.4%.  The lowest percentage of teachers holding a master’s is in the Lowellville Local School District in Mahoning County with 16.4%.
